See My World Film Festival is a new Manchester-based film festival, bringing Pan-African and Global Majority stories, perspectives and filmmakers to the screen. Through film, the festival creates a space to see our experiences reflected on screen, come together and think differently about the past, present and future.
People can expect films from across the North of England, including a selection of archival films and an exclusive premiere of new See My World documentaries: Homage and Poetic Justice.
The festival was developed with support from CONTACT and funded by the National Lottery Heritage.
Theme: This year’s festival explores Sasa Na Zamani, the Swahili concept of time explored by Kenyan philosopher John Mbiti in his book African Religions and Philosophy. The concept invites us to think about the past not as something simply behind us, but as something that remains connected to the present. Through the See My World film festival, we’re looking at the histories, people and struggles that have shaped us, and asking what becomes possible when we return to what has come before.
